“The human brain starts working the moment you are born and never stops until you stand up to speak in public.” – George Jessel
This weekend I’ll be presenting at the 2014 NSCA Oregon State Clinic at Oregon State University in Corvallis, OR. I never would have been invited without the help of my friend Jaime Rodriguez, who put in the good word with Bryan Miller.
Never underestimate the power of networking and never pass up a golden opportunity.
A few years ago during one of our NFL Combine Prep workouts at MBSC, I asked Mike Boyle how he got his start as a speaker. He told me that he would go around and volunteer his time speaking to anyone, or group, that would listen. He advised me that I should do the same if I ever wanted to get comfortable public speaking.
Well…….we’re skipping a few steps and just blasting through that whole comfort zone thing.
It’s so cliché, but it’s true. Growth doesn’t happen in your quiet little bubble. Embrace the challenge and go all in.
Thanks for reading, see you there!
